The practice of mindfulness is helping police officers across the country pay attention to what’s going on internally in order to deal with high-stress incidents.
And it’s as simple as taking a few moments to breathe in silence.
“We can’t change the lifestyle, but we can change the choices that we make,” Mesa police Det. Vicki Hixson said. “It’s about putting things in perspective. We serve and give our all, and we want to return back home with a proper work-life balance.”
